About Rogers Centre

Rogers Centre

Often known by its former name, the SkyDome, Rogers Centre is the longtime home field of the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s located in the heart of Toronto next door to the CN Tower, which spent 32 years as the tallest free-standing structure in the world until being surpassed in 2007. Rogers Centre features a retractable roof to keep out the cool Canadian air during certain times of the year. It also has a fully functioning hotel inside, including 70 rooms that overlook the field.

Best Places to Sit at Rogers Centre

Outside of staying in one of the hotel rooms overlooking the field, the best place to sit during Rogers Centre sports events is right behind home plate. Seats in the back half of the 100-level and throughout the 200-level that are between home plate and one of the dugouts will provide an excellent view of the entire field. If you’re attending a Rogers Centre event during the day when the roof is open, seats on the first base side of the stadium will get a lot of sunshine, so they should be avoided if that’s a potential problem. Those seated on the third base side of the stadium, especially the upper levels, will be privy to a wonderful view of the CN Tower.

Tips for Visiting Rogers Centre

Attendance at Blue Jays games is largely dependent on whether the team is good or not. If Toronto is having a down season, buying tickets at the last minute is a great way to land some of the cheapest Blue Jays tickets. If you’re able to stay late after a Rogers Centre sports event, players from the opponent team exit out of Gate 5, and if they’re in a good mood, they’re usually willing to sign autographs for fans.

Food to Try at Rogers Centre

Fans are allowed to bring their own food and drinks (20oz or less) to Rogers Centre events as long as it's in a bag. There are also hot dogs and various other street meat vendors outside the stadium selling food at prices far cheaper than you’ll find inside the stadium. That being said, one thing you can only get once you pass through the gates is Buffalo Cauliflower Poutine. Canada is famous for its poutine and not all that far from Buffalo, the home of Buffalo wings. Naturally, the two make for an unbeatable combination, even with some cauliflower thrown in there as well.
