Electric Zoo
When it comes to annual festivals, you might not think about electronica and dance. But EDM is huge, and it’s more than worthy of some of the biggest and best festivals out there. The absolute capstone for electronica festivals is, without a doubt, Electric Zoo, held every Labor Day weekend on Randall’s Island in the heart of New York City.
A Big Event for a Little Island
Randall’s Island, which is mostly parkland, was absolutely crawling with EDM fans in 2009 when the first Electric Zoo festival was held as a single-day event. We’re talking 26,000 lunatics dancing their hearts out to major acts like DEADMAU5, Ferry Corsten, and David Guetta. Just two years later, the festival grew to a three-day event, attracting 85,000 attendees over Labor Day weekend 2011. It’s been growing bigger and better every year since.
The Best There Is, Hands Down
Electric Zoo has one of the best reputations ever as an annual EDM festival. In fact, it’s been nominated for Best Music Event at the International Dance Music Awards not once, not twice, not even three times, but five times in a row from 2010 to 2014. That’s some serious recognition. It shows, too – attendance numbers have been steadily going up from 85,000 to more than 100,000, and there are even satellite events around the world, with Electric Zoo being the first, also in 2013.
The Electric Zoo of Today
Today, nothing can hold back Electric Zoo. Even with 2020 leading to the cancellation or postponement of every music concert in the world thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, Electric Zoo is back on for 2021 and beyond, bringing more than 100 cutting-edge EDM artists to the heart of New York City for three intense days of heart-thumping music. Get your tickets to Electric Zoo while you can – you don’t want to miss one of the biggest parties in the world!
