Musically speaking, it’s hard enough to master one instrument or even one genre of music. But Anderson .Paak is not like other musicians. The guy has mastered rap and R&B in addition to being an accomplished drummer, producer, and songwriter. He performs as both a solo artist and as part of the band The Free Nationals. On top of all of that, Anderson .Paak formed the duo Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars, producing the hit song “Leave the Door Open.” Everything he touches turns to gold, and every concert he plays covers nearly the entire musical spectrum, giving audiences an experience that they won’t get with any other artist.
From Homeless to the Grammys
Perhaps the most amazing thing about Anderson .Paak is that he was homeless and living out of his car with his wife and child before his rise to fame. Fortunately, his musical talent was undeniable, which inspired others to help him out financially so he could get back on his feet without giving up music. Anderson .Paak was able to take odd jobs in the music world while working on his solo album Venice, which came out in 2014. His second album Malibu earned him his first Grammy nomination. In 2019, Anderson .Paak won a Grammy for the first time, winning Best Rap Performance for “Bubblin.” A year later, he took home one Grammy for Best R&B Album and another for Best R&B Performance, showing the world his incredible musical range in the process.
Having Fun with Friends
It’s been such a crazy musical journey for Anderson .Paak that he’s collaborated with such a wide variety of friends. When he performs shows, you never know who might be touring with him or who might pop up and join him on stage. At various times, he’s served as the opening act for performers like Ax, Dumbfoundead, Jhené Aiko, and Bruno Mars. He’s also toured with The Free Nationals on multiple occasions, allowing Anderson .Paak to truly stretch his musical muscles. Of course, now that he’s formed a tandem with Bruno Mars and had a hit song together, fans never know if they might be surprised with the opportunity to see Anderson .
