Algiers Tickets

Atlanta is the music city of the South, at least for the genres that Nashville doesn’t have covered (so everything but country). And we’ve seen tens of successful bands/musicians come out of the big A.

You know the city as the hometown of Usher, India Arie, Ludacris, Ciara, Janelle Monae, the Indigo Girls, John Mayer, the Zac Brown Band, and now, Algiers. And while Algiers wasn’t the first very new-wave sound to come out of Atlanta (the Indigo Girls were breaking a lot of boundaries in the ’80s), they’re definitely one of the newest raw sounds on the scene.

When you listen to their music, it’s like each album is on shuffle. One track you listen to sounds like old-town soul, one sounds like rock and roll, while another one is almost like protest music. It’s an impressive range, especially since there are only four people in the band!

From Atlanta to New York, to London

While the band is from Atlanta, they don’t still hang out in the south’s music city. When they’re not touring, you can find the four together in New York City. Or, they’re sometimes split up, with some in NYC, and some across the pond in London. No matter what continent they’re on, it’s always musical magic when they get together!

Blood and Claudette

The group’s first single was “Blood,” which they released 500 copies of. It sold out more quickly than they could have ever dreamed, and they followed it up with the single, “Claudette.” Claudette, bless her heart, was the song that got them signed to Matador Records. She opened a lot of doors for them! They’re just about to drop (or just dropped) a new album, and they’re bound to go on tour to promote it.
