Alex Lahey Tickets
If the internet has taught us anything in the past five years, it’s that people love to be sarcastic. Or snarky – whatever you want to call it. That’s how we got meme culture, where it’s not unheard of for people to see a meme about a current event before seeing it on the news.
And the fact that Alex Lahey can make high-quality music with lyrics that capitalize on the sass-loving society we live in, shows just how genius she is. If you don’t know what we mean, take a listen to her hit song “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me.” Spoiler alert, you’re going to like people like her after hearing it!
Australia’s Sardonic Star
It’s hard to say if Alex Laheymakes anthems or not. We have a feeling she’d hate us calling anything she wrote that. Her work is a mix of pop-punk, raw songwriting, with a dark edge of humor you don’t usually get from music.
But Alex isn’t just a songwriter. She’s a musician too and has been since she was 13. She can play the guitar and the saxophone, which is a dying instrument. Though we’re happy if Lahey is the one to save it!
Thank You, Josh Pyke
If it wasn’t for the songwriting competition in Australia called the Josh Pyke Partnership, we may have never known Alex’s name. Winning that competition with the song “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me” was what spearheaded her career. And while that was the first musical award she won, it wouldn’t be the last. She has since been nominated for awards by or mentioned in multiple music magazines at least once a year.
