About Truist Field

BB&T Ballpark

BB&T Ballpark is one of the newest and most spacious Minor League-specific ballparks. Associated with Major League Baseball, the ballpark is one of many popular sports venues located just minutes away from one another in the Uptown neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Here’s a little bit about this intimate, modern ballpark and what it brings to the table.

The History of BB&T Ballpark

Opening its doors in 2014, BB&T Ballpark had been in the planning for quite some time beforehand. With some feeling that having an AAA-league ballpark within Charlotte was a detriment to attracting a Major League franchise to the city, these detractors tossed every argument they could against the construction of BB&T Ballpark. Yet with the only other AAA ballpark nearby being 30 minutes south of Charlotte in South Carolina, the pull for a new, local stadium was too strong to deny.

Soon, construction began on a 10,000-seat ballpark in the vicinity of Charlotte’s other pro sports stadiums. Today, BB&T Ballpark stands not far from the NBA’s Spectrum Center, which hosts the Charlotte Hornets, and Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

What’s So Special About BB&T Ballpark Events?

BB&T Ballpark is fantastic for a number of reasons. First, it’s an intimate setting as it comes in at just around 10,000 seats. If you’re not a fan of massive stadiums filled with deafening fans, this ballpark is definitely for you. At the same time, though, you don’t have to worry that it’s going to feel like you’re watching a Little League game – this stadium has a two-level club complete with skyline views of Charlotte and a climate-controlled VIP club with a full-service bar.  The International League is serious business, and so are the Charlotte Knights – it’s only right that their stadium reflects that!
