A Story Told
Each band has a different way they describe themselves. Most of the time, it’s with a genre or a mix of genres and is pretty vague. But there’s nothing vague about how A Story Told describes their music, which is as “emotionally forward pop-rock.”
Those four words give you a pretty good idea of what their music is like before you’ve ever given it a listen. Ten points to whoever came up with that – we love it! With a description like that, it shouldn’t surprise you that they got their (big) start on The Warped Tour. RIP Warped – you will be missed.
Starting the Story
Every band has a story, but not every band title makes it so incredibly easy to make story-related puns. A Story Told’s foreword, or introduction, started in 2013 in Charleston, West Virginia. It consists of Alex Chaney, Josh Allen, Zach Holley, Jason Lieser, and Casey Hardman – all of whom remain with the band (as far as we know) today. When they first grouped up, they were encouraged by other works of music like Blink-182 and pop-rockstars, Paramore. You don’t have to listen too closely to hear those influences in their music.
The Meat of the Story
They got their first big break when they landed a spot touring with Warped Tour in 2016, which was the same year they put out their first album. That album, Keep Watch, was an instant (though modest) hit within the genre. They put out their next album, Good Looks, just a year later with similar results.
Since then, the band has spent some time working on personal projects, but are due to put out a new album sometime soon. Hopefully, once they do, they’ll have enough fans to go on a tour alone.
