About Frost Bank Center

AT&T Center

Everything’s bigger in Texas, and that goes for their sports arenas as well as everything else. San Antonio’s AT&T Center, a multi-purpose indoor venue that can hold more than 19,000 adoring fans, is proof of the “bigger is better” approach for which the Lone Star State is so very well known.

History of the AT&T Center

The AT&T Center was built over a period of two years from 2000 to 2002, specifically at the behest of the San Antonio Spurs. These NBA superstars were more than done with sharing the Alamodome, their old digs on the other side of town, and jumped at the chance to get their own arena where they’d be the top dog for once.

The new venue, when compared to their old one, is so much better suited for the Spurs. The Alamodome was first and foremost a football stadium, and the Spurs used just half of it for their home games. The configuration was, well, pretty damn terrible, and fans constantly complained about the awful acoustics and terrible sight lines. Not so with the AT&T Center. Designed first of all to provide great views of the court no matter where you were, it’s proven an incredibly popular venue for the Spurs, certainly satisfying the team and its legion of fans.

What Makes the AT&T Center So Special?

Even though it’s already a thoroughly modern venue, it was renovated in 2015 for a general sprucing up. This includes an update of its scoreboards and expanding its WiFi access to ensure every nook and cranny of the stadium has a signal strong enough to handle nearly 20,000 fans updating their social media all at once. It’s an experience to be sure – you’re in for a great time if you’re about to catch the Spurs live on their home turf, so pick up tickets today!
