About JMA Wireless Dome

Carrier Dome

The Carrier Dome is a multi-sport venue on the campus of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. The stadium opened in 1980 and serves as the full-time home of the Syracuse football, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse teams. It will also host concerts on occasion. The Carrier Dome is sometimes known as “The Loud House” and is the largest on-campus basketball venue in the country, breaking its own record for the largest on-campus crowd on several occasions. For football, the Carrier Dome seating capacity is around 50,000 while for basketball it’s 33,000, although the record attendance is over 35,000.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at the Carrier Dome

For football games, there are few bad seats in the house. However, the best seats at the Carrier Dome are in sections 101 and 116. These sections are right on the 50-yard line with the back rows of the section offering the best sightlines of the entire field. In the upper level, sections 301 and 319 will put you right at the 50-yard line and provide a great view of the field.

For Carrier Dome basketball games, the court is set up in one of the stadium’s end zones. That means sections 108, 109, 123, and 124 will put you close to the middle of the court with 108 and 109 being on the side of the team benches. Sections 211 and 212 provide a mid-court view with slight elevation and is arguably the best view for basketball games, although these are smaller sections with a limited number of tickets.

Tips for Visiting the Carrier Dome

One unique design feature of the Carrier Dome is that people can stand in between two pillars on the outside of the stadium and stomp their feet or jump up in the air. There’s a rumor that the sound this makes was used in Star Wars. Whether that’s true or not, it’s a fun and unique thing to do for a minute before or after the game. You should also take a few minutes to walk around the Syracuse quad, which is right next to the stadium. You’ll walk by some beautiful buildings, as well as a statue of Ernie Davis, the first African American to win the Heisman.

Foods to Try at the Carrier Dome

The hot dogs and pizza slices at the Carrier Dome have long been fan favorites. However, there are plenty of other options beyond typical stadium food. The venue also offers a pulled pork sandwich from Dinosaur Barbecue, a local hot-spot that’s considered by some to be one of the best barbecue restaurants in the country. The Carrier Dome also has a popcorn stand with several varieties of popcorn, as well as some more health-conscious options like salads and wraps. Finally, there is a wide variety of craft beer options and wine slushies for fans to enjoy during games.
