The History of PNC Music Pavilion

PNC Music Pavilion first opened its doors in 1991. At that time, it was known as Blockbuster Pavilion, named after the now-defunct video rental chain. Seriously, when’s the last time you encountered a Blockbuster except as the punchline of a joke? The name only lasted about a decade before Verizon Wireless took over naming rights until 2013. At that point, PNC Bank swooped in and bought out Verizon’s interests, and it’s been known as PNC Music Pavilion ever since.
