Indiana Basketball Tickets
There is no state that loves basketball as much as the state of Indiana. Naturally, there are few college basketball teams that have the following that the Indiana Hoosiers have. It’s almost impossible to find cheap Indiana basketball tickets because every person in the state would love to be in the arena for a game. Of course, it helps that the Hoosiers have won a handful of national championships in their history and have plenty of fierce rivalries. Given that history, there’s nothing better for anyone in the state of Indiana than getting their hands on last-minute IU basketball tickets.
Starting the Success
IU is one of the all-time great college basketball programs. The Hoosiers rank among the top-10 all-time in wins, NCAA Tournament appearances, and Final Four appearances. The coach who helped to jumpstart that success was Branch McCracken, who played for the Hoosiers and coached them from 1938 to 1965 outside of a few seasons around World War II. During his 24 seasons as the head coach, McCracken led Indiana to four Big Ten titles, as well as national championships in 1940 and 1953.
It’s Knight Time
A few years after McCracken retired, Bobby Knight took over as Indiana’s head coach and created a dynasty. Despite some controversy along the way, Knight is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in college basketball history. He coached the Hoosiers to 11 Big Ten regular-season titles while also leading them to five Final Four appearances and national championships in 1976, 1981, and 1987. He all but ensured that Indiana will always be looked at as a haven for college basketball.
Out of the Darkness
Of course, the problem with having a coach like Knight is that nobody could possibly replace him and maintain the same level of success. The likes of Mike Davis, Kelvin Sampson, Tom Crean, and Archie Miller have all tried with varying levels of success, including a handful of Sweet 16 appearances. However, regardless of on-court success, the passion and excitement around Indiana basketball has never wavered, which is something that is unlikely to ever change.
