There are few people as famous as Cher. Madonna, Beyonce, and Britney maybe – but none of them have been on the scene as long as Cher. She’s a household name and has been since she started putting out music when she was just 18. You may know her from her Sonny and Cher days, or maybe you’ve only seen Drag Queens doing obsessive impressions of her. No matter how you’ve come to love Cher, you’re going to need tickets to her next show. And not to disrespect music royalty, but she’s getting older, so time is of the essence to see her live!

A Musical Family

Cher’s mother didn’t have a comfortable life. She was musical and could sing – which she did, on street corners trying to earn money for the family during the great depression. And while Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian, had it a lot easier than that – she’s still had to put in her share of hard work to get where she is today.

She owes some of her fame to “Sonny” Bono, who recognized her talent when he saw her when she was 17. They paired up professionally (and later married) and not only made hit after hit but scored their TV show – “The Sonny and Cher Show.” That show and their marriage lasted quite a while, but not forever. Due to financial reasons, the duo split up, and Cher went off to have a solo career own.

The Decades of Cher

Cher has done so many genres, that people refer to her music by the different divisions. There’s “Sonny and Cher,” “Disco Cher,” “Rock Cher,” and so many more. Her ability to reinvent herself without losing any talent along the way is part of what’s helped her career last this long. She’s put out more than 15 albums since she came on the scene. And even helped her mother release one a few years back.
