About TD Place Stadium

TD Place Stadium is a sports venue that’s located in Ottawa, Ontario, on the banks of the Rideau Canal. The venue opened in 1908 and has also been known as Lansdowne Park and Frank Clair Stadium. Since 2014, TD Place Stadium has served as the home field of the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL. In the past, it has hosted other CFL teams, most notably the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1908 to 1996. The venue has hosted more than half a dozen Grey Cups, several concerts, an outdoor NHL game, and soccer matches, including games during the 1976 Olympics and 2015 Women’s World Cup. For most events, TD Place Stadium has a capacity of 24,000 fans.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at TD Place Stadium

TD Place Stadium has both field seating and club seating. Field Seating puts a small collection of fans as close to the action as possible, which is appealing to some fans. Meanwhile, sections C104-C108 both offer great amenities and an ideal view of the entire field. At the same time, sections D, E, F, R, S, and T are the best sections for sitting close to midfield and being in the lower level of the stadium. Likewise, sections DD, EE, FF, RR, SS, and TT provide an excellent bird-eye view of the entire field from the upper level of the stadium.

Tips for Visiting TD Place Stadium

The area surrounding TD Place Stadium is called The Glebe, which offers green spaces like Lansdowne Park and a few bars and restaurants for fans to visit before and after games. However, there is virtually no parking available anywhere near the stadium. It’s imperative for fans to plan what form of public transportation is best to use before traveling to the stadium. The good news is that shuttle services are available, and the stadium is only a couple of miles away from downtown Ottawa. In fact, fans may want to spend some time exploring the attractions in downtown Ottawa before taking public transit to TD Place Stadium.

Food to Try at TD Place Stadium

While downtown Ottawa and The Glebe have good dining options, the TD Place Stadium concessions also have you covered. For starters, The Smoking Pig offers surprisingly good barbecue, especially the brisket sandwich. Naturally, a sports venue in Ottawa is a great place to eat some good poutine, with Chez Poutine on the north concourse serving up several specialty poutines. The venue’s pizza is provided by Gabriel Pizza, which is one of the best local pizza establishments in Ottawa. TD Place Stadium’s concessions also include burgers, hot dogs, and pastrami sandwiches that are on par or better than most stadium concessions. There is even a self-serve frozen yogurt location on the rare occasions that the weather is warm enough for a cold treat.
