About Northwest Stadium

FedEx Field

As the home of the NFL’s Washington Redskins, FedEx Field is located just outside the Beltway in neighboring Landover, Maryland. This open-air football stadium can accommodate more than 80,000 screaming fans waiting to see the Redskins get absolutely destroyed by whomever they’re up against. But just because your team is on an unlucky streak doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a nice stadium, right?

The History of FedEx Field

FedEx Field opened in 1997 as a replacement for RFK Stadium, which had been built in 1961 and was showing its age at that point. When it opened its doors, the venue was originally called Jack Kent Cooke Stadium after the Redskins’ owner in an effort to honor his memory shortly after his death. However, the stadium sold naming rights to FedEx just a few short years later.

What Makes FedEx Field Events So Special?

We’ll be honest, here — FedEx Field might not be the premier sports entertainment venue that other modern stadiums are. At the same time, there’s something really special about getting to see the Redskins get absolutely demolished on their home turf yet again, and that makes picking up a set of tickets for FedEx Field events so special.

To its credit, though, the stadium has one of the highest capacities out there. At one time it was the largest capacity stadium in the NFL. While some recent renovations might have lowered that number by a few thousand, it still means it’s unlikely you’ll ever have to worry about sold-out tickets at this venue!
