About Golden 1 Center

Golden 1 Center

Nestled in downtown Sacramento, the still-new-the-shrinkwrap-is-still-on-it Golden 1 Center is one of the most modern, cutting-edge venues in not just California but the whole world. From pro basketball and other sports events to concerts and even more, the Golden 1 Center is the greatest thing to hit Sacramento since the Gold Rush!

History of the Golden 1 Center

The Golden 1 Center’s history is tied closely to the Sacramento Kings and how the city has tried tooth-and-nail to keep this great NBA team right there at home. Built to replace the Sleep Train Arena, which housed the Kings since 1988, this new indoor, multi-use venue was completed in 2016, just in time for the 2016-2017 season to begin that October.

The Sacramento Kings are the Golden 1 Center’s primary tenant, enjoying the brand-new facilities and court for all their home games. But Golden 1 Center sports events go much further than just pro basketball. Since it opened just a few years ago, this venue has hosted NCAA and high school ball, pro wrestling events like WWE No Mercy, mixed martial arts events, and even bull riding competitions. Meanwhile, Golden 1 Center concerts are just as popular, with headliners like Paul McCartney, Kanye West, John Mayer, and Ariana Grande selling out this almost 20,000-seat arena.

What’s so special about Golden 1 Center events?

Golden 1 Center events are downright magical, and it comes down to the cutting-edge tech the venue has baked into its ultra-modern event space. This starts right on the roof, where a solar array generates most of the electricity the arena needs to power its 4k Ultra HD videoboards, lightning-fast free WiFi, and other out-of-this-world amenities. Combined with its prime location in downtown Sacramento surrounded by all sorts of attractions including retail shopping, fine dining, and everything else your heart desires, any event you take in at the Golden 1 Center is going to be unforgettable.
