About CU Events Center

CU Events Center

The CU Events Center is a sports and entertainment venue that’s located on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. The arena first opened in 1979 and was known as the Coors Events Center from 2008 to 2018, leading to its nickname of “The Keg.” The CU Events Center serves as the primary home of the Colorado Buffaloes basketball and volleyball teams, although it’s also used for concerts and other events. It’s one of the few sports venues in the country that has earned LEED Platinum Certification for being environmentally friendly. For basketball games, the CU Events Center has a capacity of over 11,000 fans.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at the CU Events Center

Outside of two sections of courtside seats, sections 9 and 21 are the best places to sit during a basketball at the CU Events Center. These sections are located directly at mid-court, although the view differs greatly based on how close to the front of the section you’re located. Sections 8 and 10 are also notable because they are located directly behind the team benches. However, thanks to its design, most seats in the CU Events Center have an excellent view of the court.

Tips for Visiting the CU Events Center

The CU Events Center is located in a great college town filled with eating, drinking, and shopping options to visit before and after games. The venue is located in close proximity to the Fiske Planetarium and several green spaces on the University of Colorado campus, which offers spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. There are also plenty of outdoor activities like fishing and hiking available in the immediate Boulder area for fans who plan on being there for more than a day. However, arriving early is a good idea because parking can be a challenge, given the location of the arena on Colorado’s campus.

Food to Try at the CU Events Center

Fans who don’t have time to visit one of Boulder’s great bars and restaurants before a game at the CU Events Center can still find a good meal inside. The bratwurst, hot dogs, and pizza are all high-quality food options, much better than what most arenas offer. For healthier options, visit Chip’s on the east side of the venue. This is where you’ll find gluten-free and vegetarian options, including salads, hummus platters, and even gluten-free hot dogs and burgers. Finally, true to its nickname, “The Keg,” the CU Events Center has a fine selection of craft beers.
