Starting in about 2010, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing dubstep. It was this new genre of EDM that featured heavy bass, but in a different way than ever before. Some people (haters) described the music as sounding like two computers fighting each other, but the majority of people found themselves intrigued. The ability to create music out of laying tracks over tracks over tracks is impressive, and the movement soon gathered millions of fans.

Tiesto and Skrillex are two people we have to thank for the popularity of the genre, and the birth of many dubstep artists, like Adventure Club. In fact, that’s who the Montreal duo quote as their inspiration to start making EDM music – and they’re glad they did.

Who is Adventure Club?

Adventure Club is an EDM DJ/Producer duo made up of Christian Srigley and Leighton James. The two met in their native Montreal and went to high school together. Adventure Club wasn’t their first foray into making music together – but it was their first successful one. They found more success with EDM than with the pop-punk band they put together in high school. They got the idea to work on electronic music in 2011, inspired by the success of Tiesto and Skrillex, as we mentioned above.

A Short Road to Success

In the early days of the EDM and Dubstep explosion, it was hard to find new music. There simply wasn’t enough supply to fuel the demand. That was the market that Adventure Club came into and they thrived off people’s growing curiosity.

They started off their career by making remixes and sampling other artists’ songs – with great success. They were at music festivals all around the world before they even had an album of their own. They didn’t put out their debut album, Red//Blue, until 2016 – five years after they first got together. Now that they’ve made their own music, they’re not going to stop.
