About L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium

Cardinal Stadium

Cardinal Stadium is a college football stadium on the University of Louisville campus in Louisville, Kentucky. It serves as the home field for the Louisville Cardinals college football team, although it’s also been used to host soccer matches, concerts, and other large events, including auto shows. The venue first opened in 1998 when it was known as Papa John’s Cardinals Stadium before being shorted to Cardinal Stadium in 2018. That same year, the stadium was expanded, increasing the capacity of Cardinal Stadium for football games to 61,000 fans.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at Cardinal Stadium

Club seating at Cardinal Stadium is the ideal place for a football game. Sections that begin with either a W or an E offer covered and climate-controlled seating. Plus, sections E5-E8 offer some of the best views in the stadium. Outside of club areas, sections 106, 107, 130, and 131 will get fans close to the field and the 50-yard line. Meanwhile, sections 205-208 and 229-232 are also close to the 50-yard line but a little higher up, giving fans a better overall view of the entire field.

Tips for Visiting Cardinal Stadium

While Cardinal Stadium isn’t located in downtown Louisville, it’s close enough to the center of the city to check out the other sites in the city, including the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. On the other hand, Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum are a little over a mile away, making it convenient to visit those sites on the same day or weekend as a game. Fans should also take a few minutes to check out the view of the city from the stadium’s party deck.

Food to Try at Cardinal Stadium

In addition to typical stadium fare, Cardinal Stadium offers some unique specialty items. At The Kentucky Producers, fans can get their hands on baked country ham sandwiches, pork chop sandwiches, and pork burgers. It’s also worth checking out Pit Bar-b-cue, where fans can enjoy pulled pork nachos, andouille sausage, and sliced brisket sandwiches. Plus, the hot dogs at Cardinal Stadium are not your typical hot dogs. The Daug Pound tops hot dogs with your choice of chili, jalapeños, or salsa. The Tumbleweed Mexican stand also offers queso dogs.
