About Cardinals vs. Bears

Bears vs Cardinals Tickets

In NFL history, there are few rivalries that have been around longer or are more unusual than the one between the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals. On the surface, there doesn’t appear to be much of a rivalry. After all, they don’t play in the same division and have never met in the playoffs. However, the Bears and Cards happen to be the two oldest franchises in the NFL. They also have a unique history with one another that makes ever meeting between the Bears and Cardinals a little different than every other NFL game.

Bears vs Cardinals

The first Bears-Cards game took place in 1920 when the Bears were the Decatur Staleys, and the Cardinals made their home in Chicago. In fact, when the Bears moved to Chicago in 1922, they shared the Windy City with the Cardinals until the Cards moved to St. Louis in 1960. In the 100 or so years since that first Bears-Cards game in 1920, the teams have met nearly 100 times and forged a wacky and unconventional rivalry. Even though they’re not regional rivals anymore, the Bears and Cards have been a part of blowouts, late-game comebacks, in-game fights, and everything imaginable under the sun, except for a playoff game.

Oddly enough, Soldier Field, which has hosted a majority of Bears-Cards games over the years, continues to host most games between the two teams. The Cardinals called Soldier Field home during their last season in Chicago while the Bears have played there since 1971, making it a historic landmark and the oldest venue in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Cardinals now make their home at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Known for hosting the Fiesta Bowl, the Final Four, and countless international soccer games, as well as the Cards, State Farm Stadium is truly an oasis in the desert for sports fans.
