About McCamish Pavilion
McCamish Pavilion is an indoor sports and entertainment venue on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The venue originally opened in 1956 with the name Alexander Memorial Coliseum after longtime Georgia Tech football coach William Alexander. However, it was renamed in 2012 after Hank McCamish, who helped to finance the arena’s extensive renovations. Today, McCamish Pavilion serves as the primary home of Georgia Tech basketball. In the past, it has also hosted the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. During the 1996 Olympics, the venue hosted boxing. Nicknamed the Thrillerdome, McCamish Pavilion has a capacity of 8,600 fans for basketball games.
Where are the Best Places to Sit at McCamish Pavilion
The best place to sit during a Georgia Tech basketball game is in the Callaway Club seats. These seats are located in the upper rows of sections 108-110 and are located directly across from the team benches. Fans in these seats have access to amenities and a lounge that other fans don’t. Outside of club seating, sections 100-102 will put fans close to the action and behind the team benches. Sections 201 and 209 also provide a good vantage point, as they are located on the second level but near midcoast, creating a great view of the entire court.
