The Beginning of Greatness

USC’s ascent to the top began in the 1920s under head coach Howard Jones, who coached the Trojans from 1925 to 1940. 21st Century Dynasty

By Carroll’s second season, USC was back on top in the Pac-10, winning the first of seven conference championships in a row. That was followed by back-to-back national championships in 2003 and 2004, which once again established USC as one of the nation’s preeminent programs.
