About the Georgia Tech Football

Georgia Tech Football Tickets

Don’t let a recent period of struggles fool you; the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are a college football heavyweight and a sleeping giant. In the past, it would have been impossible to find cheap Georgia Tech football tickets. The so-called Ramblin’ Wreck has long been one of the best programs in the south and a national brand. Even if wins have been in short supply in recent years, it’s only a matter of time until the program is back among the ACC elite, and last-minute Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are once again selling like hot cakes in the Peach State.

Mr. Heisman

John Heisman himself was one of the earliest coaches in Georgia Tech football history. He coached what was then called the Golden Tornado from 1904 to 1919, overseeing four undefeated seasons, most notably Georgia Tech’s first national championship in 1917. Heisman was also the coach during the famous 222-0 win for Georgia Tech over Cumberland College.

Can’t Stop the Ramblin’ Wreck

Heisman was followed at Georgia Tech by two more Hall of Fame coaches, Williams Alexander and Bobby Dodd, who both had tenures of over 20 seasons. Alexander guided Georgia Tech to a national championship in 1928 while also making the Ramblin’ Wreck a powerhouse in the SEC. Dodd eventually followed by coaching undefeated seasons in 1951 and 1952, including another national championship in 1952.

The Modern Yellow Jackets

Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, the good times couldn’t last forever. The program went into a tailspin after Dodd retired after the 1966 season. The Yellow Jackets were rejuvenated in 1990 when Bobby Ross led them to the 1990 national championship. After that, Georgia Tech was able to keep some level of consistency until the latter part of Paul Johnson’s tenure. When Johnson retired after the 2018 season, the Yellow Jackets began the challenge of transitioning away from Johnson’s triple-option offense to a more modern style of play. However, with decades of success and multiple national championships ingrained in their past, it’s only a matter of time until the glory days return to Georgia Tech football.
