Top 5 Reasons We Can’t Wait For Opening Day 2020

Opening Day. Two words that can make any grizzled baseball junkie feel like a kid on Christmas morning. The crack of a pop-fly into left field, the fresh scent of pine tar, the perfect feel of your old catcher’s mitt— it all comes rushing back to mind with the return of America’s pastime on the horizon.

It’s the 151st anniversary for American professional baseball, and we couldn’t be more excited for the season to get started! So dust off your favorite team’s gear, and get ready for Opening Day festivities across the country. No tickets, no problem. Gametime’s your 2020 Opening Day resource – we’ve got tickets for every game with detailed stadium photos and seat maps to help you celebrate the greatest day of the year in style!

Play Ball! ⚾️

We’re gearing up for the season’s first pitch by sharing a few of our favorite parts of baseball’s biggest day. If you’re counting down the days ‘til March 26th and still don’t have seats (c’mon really?), we’ve got plenty of last-minute Opening Day ticket options for every game.

A Clean Slate 🗒

No matter how your team performed last season, March 26th could be the beginning of a new era for your fandom. This year might finally be the year to rebuild, make the playoffs, or take it all the way to the World Series. This season features a ton of new changes for most teams, especially in the wake of wild trades pre-spring training, or in several cases, entirely new management. Opening Day celebrates legendary franchise histories and championships, but every team starts at square one. Fingers crossed that this is the beginning of 162-0 and not the beginning of the end for your hometown heroes!

The Traditions 🎉🇺🇸

While Opening Day is celebrated across the league, a few cities have carved out their niche as the place to be if you’re a baseball fan. In the world of Opening Day festivities, Cincinnati is king. For almost a century, the Findlay Market Parade has been a rallying point to celebrate all things Reds baseball in the lead up to the game. The parade into the Great American Ball Park has become an official holiday for the city, and the ceremonial first pitch traditionally kicks off the entire MLB season.

Between the colorful bunting, military flyovers, and giant American flag unfurlings, each stadium will play host to a celebration of the American pastime. Watching the festivities on TV can’t beat being in the heart of the crowd. Gametime’s got your back with the cheapest Opening Day tickets and some of the lowest fees in the game.

Bringing Out the Big Guns 💪

While the fanfare and celebrations commemorate the special occasion, one of the most exciting parts of Opening Day is the superstar matchups. All 30 teams will play on March 26th, and you can bet that each team is going to be putting out their ace pitchers to go head-to-head and claim that sweet 1-0 glory.

Possibly the most exciting match-up for 2020 Opening Day is one mired in controversy: the Angels will be the first team to take on the Houston Astros in the aftermath of the World Series sign-stealing scandal. Both teams have picked up legendary managers in the Angel’s Joe Maddon (formerly of the Cubs) and the Astro’s Dusty Baker (formerly of the Giants). The stage is set for a Wild West Opening Day showdown that we can’t wait to see!

Ballpark Snacks Are Back, Baby 🌭

Two words: Helmet. Nachos. From peanuts to Cracker Jacks, the ballpark smorgasbord has arrived! It’s been five long months since we’ve been able to enjoy our gut-busting favs. Opening Day might put your New Year’s diet on pause — but treat yourself, you’ve earned it! Whether it’s Garlic Fries at Oracle Park or the classic Dodger Dog (Pro-tip: Go for grilled, not steamed), grab a snack and get ready for that seventh-inning stretch. The feast is on.

New Look, Same Game 😎

With opening day comes some new surprises for a few teams beyond the roster shakeups. Nike has taken over as the league’s uniform sponsor — expect some fresh ‘fits making their first plate appearance. And for the Texas Rangers, this opening day will be the first at a new home. They’ve relocated to Globe Life Field after 26 seasons at their last stadium.

Whether you’re a seasoned Opening Day veteran or just wanting to see what all the fuss is about — there’s no better way to experience pure baseball bliss than being in the bleachers. Gametime makes it easy to find the best seats and share your Opening Day tickets with the whole crew straight from the app.

Win or lose, there are plenty of games to go, we’re just happy baseball’s back. Happy Opening Day from the Gameteam!
