When is Taylor Swift Going on Tour?
It’s been a five-year wait for some fans, but Taylor Swift is finally going back on tour in 2023. The demand for Taylor Swift tickets has never been higher, which has been reflected in the difficulty of fans getting their hands on tickets for the upcoming Taylor Swift tour. Fortunately, there are always tickets available on the secondary market. You just have to know when Taylor is going on tour, where she’s going, and the best time to buy tickets. With that in mind, let’s take a look at everything fans need to know about Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour.
Taylor Swift Tour History
For fans, Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, which is being called The Eras Tour, is long overdue. Her fifth and most recent tour was the Reputation Stadium Tour, which ran from May 8 to November 21, 2018. The COVID-19 pandemic wiped out her scheduled Lover Fest Tour. As a result, by the time The Eras Tour kicks off on March 17, 2023, it will be nearly five years since Swift last toured.
During those five years, she’s somehow managed to release six albums. There was Lover in 2019, followed by Folklore and Evermore, which were both released during the early stages of the pandemic in 2020. Swift’s latest album Midnights was released in October 2022. In 2021, she also released new versions of two of her older albums, Fearless and Red, which produced a new 10-minute version of her song “All Too Well,” among improved versions of old hits. In other words, Swift has dozens of songs in her repertoire for The Eras Tour that she didn’t have on the Reputation Stadium Tour.
Where is The Eras Tour Going?
If there’s a massive stadium in a city, there’s a good chance that The Eras Tour is making a stop there. Swift is visiting nothing but large football stadiums on her new tour. There are only 20 different venues on the tour, although every venue is getting at least two shows, so there will be a total of 52 shows.
As mentioned, things get started on March 17, 2023, when Swift will play at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. State Farm Stadium is also scheduled to host Super Bowl LVII just a few weeks before Swift visits the same venue where she kicked off her Reputation Stadium Tour. From there, the tour has stops in Las Vegas, Arlington, Tampa, Houston, and Atlanta before the end of April.
The month of May begins with three shows in Nashville, followed by trips to Philadelphia, Foxborough, and East Rutherford. In June, The Eras Tour visits Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, and Cincinnati. July’s schedule includes Kansas City, Denver, Seattle, and Santa Clara. Finally, Swift’s tour ends with five shows between August 3 and August 9 at SoFi Stadium in Southern California.
The Opening Acts
Fans going to The Eras Tour will want to make sure they arrive early because Swift has some great opening acts. Paramore will be the opening act for the tour’s first show at State Farm Stadium, but that is the only show where Paramore will perform. The likes of Gayle, Beabadoobee, and Gracie Abrams will serve as the opening acts for shows. During the month of May, Phoebe Bridgers will be the opening act for one of the two shows at each venue. Later in the tour, Girl in Red and Haim will serve as the opening acts. Just be sure to check ahead of time for the opening act of the specific show you’re attending.
How Long Are Taylor Swift’s Concerts
During past tours, Swift’s performances have lasted a minimum of 90 minutes. This doesn’t include the 20-30 minutes that the opening act performs. It also doesn’t include any songs played during the encore. In total, Swift’s performances during The Eras Tour should be around two hours long.
What Songs Can You Expect on The Eras Tour?
True to its name, The Eras Tour has been described by Swift as a “journey through all of my musical eras.” That would seem to imply that she will be playing songs from almost all of her albums, not just her newest album or even from the six albums released since the last time she toured in 2018. With the show likely limited to two hours at most, there probably isn’t room for much more than 20 songs.
What will those 20 songs be? Frankly, there’s no way to know for sure until the tour starts. Swift has released over 50 singles during her career and has plenty of great songs that weren’t released as singles. Reducing that catalog of songs to just 20 will not be an easy task. It makes it hard to guarantee that every fan in attendance will be able to hear their personal favorite. However, it does guarantee that every song Swift performs during The Eras Tour will be among her best.
Perhaps more importantly, the entire setlist will likely feature a variety between her oldest songs, her newest songs, and everything in between, which will deliver exactly what this tour has promised. It will truly be a tour that reflects upon what an amazing career Taylor Swift has had and how far she’s come as an artist. If nothing else, the songs played on The Eras Tour will be the best of the best.
