From 2005 to 2012, Romar led the Huskies to two regular-season and three conference tournament titles, as well as five NCAA Tournament appearances and three trips to the Sweet 16.

Hop Into Action

After things fizzled with Romar, UW found its new head coach in 2017 in longtime Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins. Originally from the West Coast, Hopkins brought the Huskies instant excitement and passion for basketball. In just his second season as the UW head coach, Hopkins led the Huskies to a Pac-12 regular-season title and snapped the program’s eight-year NCAA Tournament drought, setting the stage for a bright future.
