Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: Our Guide to What You Need to Know

Without question, Taylor Swift tickets will be the hottest commodity on the music scene this spring and summer. The Eras Tour gets underway on March 17 and figures to be one of the most anticipated music tours ever. For starters, Swift has released four new albums and two re-recorded albums since her last tour, so The Eras Tour is a long time coming. Naturally, the demand for presale tickets was so great the Ticketmaster website crashed. However, the secondary market has plenty of tickets available, giving fans a chance to get their hands on Taylor Swift tickets for what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Let’s take a closer look at everything Swift fans need to know about The Eras Tour.

What to Know About The Eras Tour

The first thing you should know about The Eras Tour is that it promises to be a celebration of Swift’s entire career to this point. When the tour was announced, she described it as “a journey through the musical eras of my career.” That implies that the tour will feature a blend of her old hits and songs from the four new albums she’s released since her last tour, making this a tour that Swift fans of all ages will enjoy.

The other thing you need to know is where The Eras Tour is going. As mentioned, things kick off on March 17 with the first of two shows in Glendale, Arizona. This will be followed by two shows in Las Vegas, three in Arlington, three in Tampa, three in Houston, and three in Atlanta, bringing us to the end of April. In May, Swift will play three shows in Nashville, three in Philadelphia, three at Gillette Stadium outside of Boston, and three at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In June, Swift has three shows in Chicago, two in Detroit, two in Pittsburgh, two in Minneapolis, and two in Cincinnati. She’ll take a break for the Fourth of July and then return for the home stretch of the tour with two shows in Kansas City, two in Denver, two in Seattle, two at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, and finally five shows between August 3 and August 9 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Opening Acts and Setlist

Several opening acts will join Swift during various stages of the tour. Rock outfit Paramore is the biggest name, although they will only appear during the first two shows. Grammy-nominated singer Gayle will be on the tour off and on, including the first show and the last, playing 11 shows in total. British singer Beabadoobee will perform four times during the early part of the tour. Newcomer Gracie Abrams will be one of the opening acts for 14 shows. Indie-pop band Muna will appear four times on The Eras Tour. Norwegian singer Girl in Red is scheduled to appear seven times, all during the month of June. Finally, the three sisters’ band Haim will join Swift as the opening act for the final five shows of The Eras Tour.

As for Swift’s setlist during The Eras Tour, before the tour starts, it’s anybody’s guess. But since Swift has described the tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career,” we can expect to hear material from each of her albums. Of course, with countless hits over the years, that doesn’t necessarily narrow things down too much. The one thing we can say for sure is that Swift has no shortage of options when choosing her setlist, which means it’ll be hard to disappoint fans no matter what songs end up going on the setlist.

Fun Taylor Concert Facts

Of course, it remains to be seen how The Eras Tour will be able to live up to Swift’s past tours. Even with all of the hype surrounding her upcoming tour, Swift has set a high bar in the past. Her Reputation Tour in 2018 was the third highest-grossing tour by a female performer ever. Swift grossed over $345 million on that tour and averaged over 54,000 fans per show over 53 shows.

The show itself was an incredible achievement from a production standpoint. There were three stages used to help Swift get closer to her fans with the main stage being 110 feet tall. The production equipment required 80 trucks to carry it from one venue to the next, so it was not a small production. In fact, Swift used seven different microphones each night and made eight costume changes during every performance. However, while most of the show was high-energy, Swift did slow things down at times and played two songs on the piano during the Reputation Tour. She might follow that lead during The Eras Tour, as many of her new hits from her Folklore and Evermore albums work best acoustically.

How to Get Ready for The Eras Tour

For anybody who has never been to a Taylor Swift concert, it’s truly an experience unlike any other. But, before attending, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, research the venue's address, parking options, and transportation options, especially if you're coming from out of town. And don't forget to read up on the venue's policies regarding prohibited items, such as large bags or outside food and drinks.

If you're hoping to get a good spot, consider arriving early, as this will also enable you to explore the surrounding area, grab a bite to eat, or take some photos before the show starts. Next, feel free to add a little sparkle to your outfit. The fashion police won’t be there, so try to wear something that will help make the night even more memorable. Now you're officially ready to jam out! Just make sure you listen to all of Swift's albums before the show so you can sing your heart out alongside the other Swifties in the crowd.

Finally, ensure you find a way to get a ticket from the secondary market. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the first row or the last row, or somewhere in between. Every Taylor Swift show will be memorable and extraordinary; you just have to make sure you have a way to get through the door.
