About the Florida Basketball
Florida Basketball Tickets
Few college basketball programs have risen to prominence as quickly as the Florida Gators. Just a few decades ago, it would have been easy to get cheap Florida basketball tickets because the program was going nowhere fast. However, sometimes finding the right coach is all it takes to bring a program to life. That’s what happened with the Gators, who have won multiple national championships and made last-minute Florida basketball tickets as in demand as tickets to see the school’s football team.
Late Start
The amazing thing about Florida basketball is that the school didn’t even hire a full-time head coach until 1960. Norm Sloan got the gig and got the Gators on the right path before leaving in 1966. However, Sloan returned to Florida in 1980 and coached the Gators for nine more seasons before retiring, taking Florida to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history in 1987.
Billy the Kid
The Gators made their first trip to the Final Four in 1994 under head coach Lon Kruger. But it was the arrival of a young coach named Billy Donovan in 1996 that changed the fortunes of Florida basketball forever. In his third season at the helm, Donovan led the Gators to the Sweet 16. One year later, Florida was back in the Final Four and was national runner-up after winning the SEC regular-season title for just the second time in program history.
Two Titles
The Florida basketball program peaked when it won back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. In an era when the top players leave school early, Donovan got all of his underclassmen to return to school to defend their title and become the first team in 15 years to repeat as national champions. Donovan was able to keep things going after that, taking the Gators to the Elite Eight in four straight seasons from 2011 to 2014, culminating in one more Final Four trip before passing the torch to Mike White in 2015 after building one of the most successful programs in the country.

After the renovations, the arena has a capacity of a little over 10,000 fans for basketball games.
