About Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Trans Siberian Orchestra Tickets
Masters of the arena rock opera experience, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is the kind of act you need to see live at least once in your lifetime. Known for their mind-blowing concerts that incorporate elaborate sets complete with billowing fog, multimedia experiences, and full orchestras and choirs, TSO has sold more than 10 million concert tickets and over 10 million albums since they were founded in 1996. While band members have cycled in and out over the years, Trans-Siberian Orchestra lives on, wowing audiences around the globe to this day.
In the Beginning
For such an epic band, Trans-Siberian Orchestra has a suitably epic backstory. Founded by longtime music industry veteran Paul O’Neill – who was already famous for producing and managing such superstar bands as Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Joan Jett – the band was conceptualized as classic hard rock band built around a rock opera trilogy set about Christmas of all things. As bizarre as it might sound on paper, TSO’s first album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, turned out to be one of their best-selling albums of all time.
It was followed up by The Christmas Attic in 1998, featuring the band’s amped-up “Christmas Canon,” their high-velocity take of Pachabel’s Canon in D major, a critical and commercial hit that is now the backdrop of pretty much every Christmas commercial on the planet. More epic rock operas followed, from Beethoven’s Last Night to the trilogy-ending The Lost Christmas Eve and beyond, all of which were wildly successful, especially in concert, thanks to the band’s insane take on showmanship!
Nothing Keeps This Band Down
TSO has faced its own unhappy moments, even in the face of wild success. O’Neill died tragically from a drug overdose in 2017. A tractor-trailer collided with bassist David Z’s tour bus that same year, cutting his life tragically short as well. Yet despite these heartbreaking moments, TSO has stood fast and continued to tour and produce wild, inspiring music. As O’Neill said once, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is owned by its fans. Nothing can stop it, not even death itself – and that’s a fact.
