Poolside Tickets
Do you believe in the power of self-described “daytime disco”? That’s how the duo that makes up Poolside describes themselves or at least did when they first came out in 2011.
The duo is made up of two artists, Filip Nikolic and Jeffery Paradise, who thought the pool party music scene in LA was missing something: aka, some techno music that wasn’t as intense as dubstep, which had just become mainstream at the time. They knew there was a need, and they filled it. They called the new genre of music they made “Daytime Disco,” as we referred to earlier.
A Wide-Ranging Sound
Part of what the duo love about their music (and their audience) is how diverse they are. They’ve headlined EDM clubs just as often as they’ve played festivals that cater to a “hippie” crowd.
And while classic EDM has a younger average listener range, Jeffery’s parents are a fan of the music the two are making, showing that they can cater to all age groups. The question is, who doesn’t love them, rather than who does.
Day & Night: Poolside’s Private Label
Instead of waiting around to be discovered, this duo decided to create their label, which they named “Day and Night.” After setting up their label, they released their first studio album “Pacific Standard Time,” in 2012.
They kept busy for the years following, then agreed to put Poolside down to work on other projects. That’s what they told the public anyways, and it’s what everyone thought until they surprise dropped their album “Heat” via their label in 2017. They’ve been playing shows and working with other DJs ever since.
Their shows are usually at night unless you catch them at a festival, which seems silly as they identify as “daytime” music. But that’s how the venues work, so they make do.
