About America

America Tickets

It’s impossible to describe the band America without mentioning that they started in the 70s. There’s something so centrally important about that decade for music in general, but for this band specifically.

It’s the only time in the last 100 years or so when bands could get away with story-telling song lyrics. Their breakthrough hit, “A Horse with No Name,” is proof of that. Even after listening to it a few times, you don’t exactly know what happened – which is how a lot of people describe living through that decade, anyways. So what makes this soft rock group different than all the others from those years? Learn more, below.

Making the Band

The US Air Force is to thank for the band America. No, seriously, we’re not joking. The first three members of the band are all military brats, and met in high school, at a base school. The three friends, Dewey Bunnel, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley finished high school, then created the band, Daze. That band didn’t last long – and neither did its fourth member. Within a year, the boys decided to rebrand as America, and go back to their original lineup: the three childhood friends. That was a good choice, it seems, as they started America in the spring of 1970, and recorded an EP in the fall.

Soft Rockstars

The three boys (now men) have put out around 15 albums in their fifty years together. That’s pretty impressive for what started as a just-for-fun jam band! And they would still be making music together, except Dan Peek died in 2011. The two remaining men honor him by continuing to play music together for their fans. It’s what Dan would have wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are America tickets?

America ticket prices will differ depending on the source and the seats. The best price for America tickets is usually around $62 a ticket, and that’s for nosebleed seats! If you want floor seats, or if you’re shopping for tickets at a popular venue, you could easily be looking at a few hundred dollars more.

How to buy America tickets?

America ticket prices are going to be pretty high if purchased directly from the box office. That means the best way to buy cheap America tickets is online through a ticket marketplace. Ticket marketplaces like Gametime are perfect because they put you in contact with resellers looking to move seats at a relative bargain. It’s the safest and most affordable way to get the best price for America tickets.

What’s America tour setlist?

You never know what’s going to happen at an America concert, but here’s the average tour setlist:

  • Miniature
  • Tin Man
  • You Can Do Magic
  • Don't Cross the River
  • Daisy Jane
  • Riverside
  • I Need You
  • Here
  • Ventura Highway
  • Driving
  • Eleanor Rigby
  • Cornwall Blank / Hollywood
  • A Horse with No Name

How long is an America concert?

With such an epic setlist, you can expect America’s performance to last for around 90 minutes, from start to finish. When you take opening acts into account, you’re looking at two to three hours of entertainment.

How much are America floor seats?

The best way to see America live is up close and personal from the floor, but these seats are always super expensive. The cheap end of floor seats can easily be $82 to $119, and if you’re seeing America at a venue with stage pit seats it could be even more pricey. Of course, there are ways around this. There’s a great strategy for cutting America ticket prices on floor seats and the best part is that it requires you to do literally nothing but wait. Waiting until the last minute can get you some great discounts because resellers with unsold seats don’t make any money. Wait it out and watch those prices drop to something more affordable, and then enjoy your floor seats!
