About Kenny Chesney
Kenny Chesney Tickets
Kenny Chesney wasn’t always the household name country star he is today. He grew up in a humble home in the tiny town of Gibbs, Tennessee. It was the kind of upbringing where everyone knows everyone, as the city has a population of less than 10,000.
During his time in Gibbs (some sources say Luttrell), he wasn’t really into music. He didn’t even get his first guitar until college! But once that guitar was in his hands, he knew it would be a lifelong love. That’s where it all started -with college- Kenny playing venues around East Tennessee State University, in the early 1990s.
A Late-Found Passion
Once he graduated from East Tennessee State in 1991, he found himself more interested in pursuing music than ever before. And as you have to do to truly succeed in country music, he moved to Nashville that same year.
While in Nashville, he started performing regularly at a restaurant called “The Turf” in the historic district. His crowds weren’t always interested or easy to please, but that’s great practice for a budding musician. Thankfully he kept performing and improving, and he landed a publishing deal with Acuff-Rose in 1992.
His Wildest Dreams
Once he got the publishing contract, a record label soon followed. With help from Capricorn records, he released his debut album “In My Wildest Dreams, in 1993. Though he resigned with RCA, Kenny managed to keep his country career on an upward track, and released a second and third album just two and three years later, respectively.
His third album went gold, as did his fourth, and his fifth. He pretty much hasn’t had an unsuccessful record since. Although it’s been almost three decades since he came onto the music scene, he’s not stopping anytime soon. He tours regularly, in venues usually reserved for tens of thousands of fans (like football stadiums).
