ARMNHMR
What do the words Arm & Hammer make you think of? For most people, it’s baking soda or the other brand-related cleaning and personal care products they produce. But if you’re in the EDM scene or just California in general, you’ll know that Arm & Hammer has another, less cleaning related meaning. It’s the name of a new EDM duo who are here to blow your mind with their sound.
Not only do they make remixes of other artists’ work, which is a form of respect in the community, but they make their tracks too. They’ve only been together a few years, and they’re already making a name for themselves, even though the band name is a little hard to spell.
The Men Behind ARMNHMR
Obviously, for copyright reasons, the band couldn’t name itself Arm & Hammer spelled out, but that is how you pronounce it. The two behind the creative name and creative music are Joseph Chung and Joseph Abella. They missed out on an opportunity to call themselves Joseph squared, but we digress.
The two friends started making music together in 2016 and quickly made a name for themselves in the music scene through SoundCloud. Pantheon was their first highly-successful track, with its classic dubstep-type build and well-mixed vocals. If you want to give Pantheon a listen, you’ll have to see them in person or find it on SoundCloud – it’s not on other streaming services.
Pantheon was the track that got them enough attention to partner with DATHAN on the remix of Kaskade’s song, “Disarm You,” which Kaskade played at a show himself. In the EDM community, an artist playing a remix of their own song by someone else is the highest form of compliment.
What’s Next?
The duo has only been together for about four (going on five) years. In that time, they’ve managed to put out at least 20 singles since. We can’t wait to see where the two Josephs go – and who is going to sign them.
