More About Luke Bryan

There’s nothing better than a Georgia boy done good, and that’s exactly what Luke Bryan is. This country star burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s and has made no signs of slowing down anytime soon. To date, he’s sold over seven million albums and 27 million singles worldwide. Not bad for a country boy!

Humble Beginnings

Born Thomas Luther Bryan to a family of peanut farmers in the tiny town of Leesburg, Georgia, from the very beginning Luke knew he was destined to become a country singer. He almost didn’t make it, though – just as he was leaving for Nashville at the age of 19, he tragically lost his brother in a car accident.

The sudden loss changed the trajectory of Luke’s life, choosing instead to stay closer to home. He went to college at Georgia Southern University where he met his future wife, Caroline Boyer, who he married in 2006. Shortly thereafter, he finally made it to Nashville. That’s when things really started rockin’ and rollin’.

Some Fun Influences

Luke definitely has those classic country chops, and you can hear in his music that he’s been influenced by greats like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Alabama, and Merle Haggard. At the same time, though, Luke’s as modern as it gets. He also says that modern hip-hop also plays a role in his songwriting. Classic East Coast artists like Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys hold a place near and dear in Luke’s heart, placing a funky spin on his good old country and western.

Rocketing to Stardom

Luke’s relocation to Nashville opened some major doors for this talented singer-songwriter. He landed his first gig co-writing Billy Currington’s β€œGood Directions,” a song that charted to number one on the Hot Country Songs. He then followed it up with his own debut single, β€œAll My Friends Say,” which took the number five spot. Not long after, he released his first album, I’ll Stay Me, writing or co-writing ten of the eleven songs on the album.

The record was an immediate success, launching Luke’s career into stardom. Five albums later, Luke Bryan is gearing up for yet another studio album to be released sometime in the very near future. You know this down-home Georgia boy’s going to tour the hell out of that record when it comes out, just as he’s done before.
