More About the Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland’s known for a few things: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the 90s favorite The Drew Carey Show, and of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not surprisingly, our personal preference is for one of the hottest NBA franchises out there (who also happen to be infinitely more entertaining than Drew Carey reruns… yeah, we said it).

From Expansion Woes to Excellence on the Court

The Cavs certainly didn’t start out strong. Like most expansion teams, they were throwing bricks for a few years after their founding. In fact, from 1970 on when the franchise was first formed their prospects were pretty bleak, losing their first 15 games. It wasn’t until 1976 that the Cavaliers came into their own with their first winning season, which was also their first Division title and also their first appearance in the playoffs.

Over the next decade or so, the Cavs would consistently kick it up a notch. A revolving door of coaches and owners would finally settle enough for the team to get some consistent leadership and as a result, the Cavaliers got just stronger and stronger every season. Finally, by the mid to late 2000s, the Cavs completed their metamorphosis into the monsters on the court they are today.

Repping Cleveland Like a Boss

Today’s Cavs are an absolute powerhouse. Every single one of the six division titles they’ve earned since 1976 has been in the last ten years. Meanwhile, the five conference titles they have under their belt are from 2007 onward – and the last four were consecutive from 2015 through 2018. Their 2016 NBA Finals win was just icing on the cake. A record like this makes the Cavs one hell of a popular team.

Will Cleveland continue to be the home of some of the best basketball being played right now? Can the Cavs keep building on their recent successes to stay on top of the NBA as they have been for years? Our Magic 8-Ball says to check back later… but all we know is we’re not missing any Cavaliers games anytime soon!
