About Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt Tickets

Sam Hunt never thought he’d end up a country music superstar. In fact, he'd never even picked up a guitar until college, when he started playing as something to do between pursuing a career as a football player. However talented he was on the gridiron, though, the world is lucky that pro sports didn’t pan out for Hunt. Otherwise, we would never have had the opportunity to experience the pure artistry of this talented singer/songwriter!

From Penniless in Nashville to Writing Hit Songs

After the pro football thing ended up a wash, Sam Hunt moved to Nashville with not much more than a mattress in the back of his mom’s minivan. But it wasn’t long before his other talents would hit paydirt, writing “Come Over” for Kenny Chesney in 2012. More major songwriting gigs would follow for musicians like Keith Urban, Billy Currington, and Reba McEntyre, all in between releasing his own original songs on his website.

All this perseverance paid off when Hunt announced he had signed a recording contract with MCA Nashville in 2014. His four-song EP, X2C, sold 8,000 copies its first week. His debut album, Montevallo, followed at number one on the Top Country Albums chart and number three on the US Billboard 200, selling 70,000 units on its very first day. That’s a pretty big deal for someone who had been focused on a football career just a few years prior!

Superstardom and Beyond

Montevallo catapulted Sam Hunt into the spotlight. The album broke more chart records than you can imagine, including five hit singles. Four of them went to number one on the Country Airplay chart, and three of which made it to number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. The song “Leave the Night On” peaked on both charts at the same time, making Sam Hunt the first country musician in more than two decades to top those charts. The last one to do so was none other than Billy Ray Cyrus, putting him in some very good company!

All of this makes Hunt one of the hottest new country acts to watch going forward. Nothing but amazing new music is on its way from this fast-rising superstar. Who knows what we’re in for next?
