About Lincoln Financial Field

Lincoln Financial Field

Home to the Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field is the greenest sports arena ever and the most eco-friendly stadium in the NFL, with nearly 11,000 solar panels and 14 wind turbines.

The History of Lincoln Financial Field

The Lincoln Financial Field replaced the Veterans Stadium and opened its doors on August 3, 2003. On August 22 that same year, the venue hosted its very first game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots. Probably one of the more anticipated games played at Lincoln Financial Field is the annual Army-Navy football game.

The stadium has undergone several renovations over the years. In 2004 the stadium owners decided to remove a few of the club section seats to improve the stadium accessibility to guests with disabilities. That same year, the family-friendly section “The Pepsi Zone” on the North-East end zone was also added to the venue.

The field does not only host football games and practices, but soccer games, lacrosse teams, and musical performances as well. Some illustrious music performers who have played at Lincoln Financial Field include Bruce Springsteen, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Fall Out Boy, and Taylor Swift. Besides being the greenest NFL stadium, the Lincoln Financial Field has also made it to the PETA’s list for “Vegetarian-Friendly NFL stadiums.”
