About Moore Theatre

Moore Theatre

The Moore Theatre is a music and performing arts venue in downtown Seattle. It is the oldest active theatre in Seattle, first opening in 1907. In 1974, the Moore Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places and was designated as a Seattle Landmark in 1989. The theatre continues to host concerts, standup comedians, and many other performers. In fact, many artists have chosen the Moore Theatre to be the site of live albums and stand-up specials. However, the venue is a little small, holding just 1,800 guests.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at Moore Theatre

Visitors should make note of the narrowness of Moore Theatre, which can make the balcony a little uncomfortable. With that in mind, floor seats are preferable for any show. For concerts, there is a pit area that is right on top of the stage and the best option for fans who want to be as close as possible to the performer. Other than that, floor seats are the best option as opposed to making the steep climb up to the balcony.

Tips for Visiting Moore Theatre

It’s worth arriving early for a show at the Moore Theatre. For starters, at least some parts of the balcony are likely to be general admission seating, so it’s wise to arrive early to get your choice of seats. However, it’s also worth taking some time to gaze at and appreciate the interior architecture of such an old building. While it’s been refurbished, everything from the lobby to the seating area to the ceiling  It’s like being inside of an antique. In fact, if you can’t make it to a show, there are sometimes tours available that go inside the Moore Theatre and other historic buildings in the same neighborhood.

Food to Try at Moore Theatre

Food options inside such an old theatre like the Moore are a little limited. However, there is a bar in the basement with beer and cocktails. There are also small concession stands where visitors can buy cookies from the nearby Dahlia Bakery or sandwiches. Also, there is no shortage of restaurants near the Moore Theatre to visit before or after shows, including the Dahlia Lounge, the Palace Kitchen, El Gaucho, and the Andaluca.
