About Children's Mercy Park

Children's Mercy Park

A soccer-specific stadium located on the Kansas side of Kansas City, Children’s Mercy Park is an open-air venue that can hold more than 18,000 screaming soccer fans – or up to 25,000 for concerts. It’s a fantastic venue and one that has helped put Kansas City on the map for soccer and other events for years.

The History of Children’s Mercy Park

The history of Children’s Mercy Park begins in 2008 when calls for a home for a new Major League Soccer team in the area saw several different locations being considered. In fact, Children’s Mercy Park almost ended up on the Missouri side of Kansas City! It was eventually decided to stick to the Kansas side, and what was then known as Livestrong Sporting Park opened in 2011.

The name’s changed a few times since then, and in 2015 the venue claimed the name it’s now known by today. Meanwhile, it’s been hosting MLS games and concert arena events this whole time.
