About Lumen Field

CenturyLink Field

Just a mile from downtown Seattle, the massive CenturyLink Field, notoriously loud and boisterous, certainly lives up to its hometown’s reputation. This multi-purpose stadium perfectly captures the excitement and drama of not just NFL events but Major League soccer matches as well, meaning there’s something for everyone in this premier Pacific Northwest open-air arena.

History of CenturyLink Field

CenturyLink Field is a newcomer to the field, as it was constructed between 2000 and 2002 to replace the aging King County Multipurpose Domed Stadium. Lovingly referred to as the Kingdome, it stood from 1976 to 2000 before being demolished to make way for CenturyLink Field, which was built on its former footprint.

What Makes CenturyLink Field So Special?

CenturyLink Field is a high-capacity stadium built on the smallest footprint in the NFL. The U-shaped stadium holds more than 72,000 fans featuring a unique cantilevered design that happens to offer great views of the field, thanks to the way the upper sections are positioned. It’s also one of the loudest venues in the NFL, as it’s been verified by Guinness World Records to create a roar of more than 137 decibels. That’s louder than a jet engine taking off. It’s also well over the point where you’ll experience permanent hearing damage, so trust us when we say you should pack your earplugs if you’re going to CenturyLink Field anytime soon!
