About Beacon Theatre

Beacon Theatre

Located in the heart of Manhattan, the Beacon Theatre is one of Broadway’s oldest, most historic, and most breathtaking performance spaces. With just over 2,800 seats, this three-tiered theater makes the most of limited space, providing an incredibly intimate experience. Whether it’s concert events, theater performances, or even awards shows, the Beacon delivers time and again!

The History of the Beacon Theatre

The Beacon Theatre opened its doors for the first time on Christmas Eve, 1929. Originally conceived as a movie theater, the Beacon continued in this proud tradition until the 1970s. Then, in 1974, the theater changed hands, and with it came a refurbishment to allow it to present live band performances instead. After being declared a national historic landmark in the early 1980s and a brief but failed attempt to turn the theater into a nightclub in 1987, the Beacon became one of the premier small-to-medium-sized concert halls in New York City, an identity it still possesses to this day.

What’s So Great About Beacon Theatre Events?

No matter where you’re sitting in the Beacon, you feel like you’re part of the show. Even on the third tier, high above the stage, sightlines are clear, and the relative size of the venue itself gives an intimate, cozy feel. Couple that with the classic 1920s architecture of the building itself, and the Beacon Theatre provides you the ultimate live concert experience!
