The History of the Eugene O’Neill Theatre

The history of this venue stretches back nearly a hundred years. It was first opened in 1925, named the Forrest Theatre at the time. Twenty years later, after a series of renovations, it was given a second name, the Coronet. Finally, in 1959 it was renamed the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in honor of the great American playwright. It’s held that name ever since, even as it’s changed ownership several times over that period.
