About Footprint Center

Talking Stick Arena

You’ll find more than just gambling at the Talking Stick located in Phoenix, Arizona. This huge complex has everything surrounding it. Here you’ll find the casino, along with several shops and restaurants. But if you’re looking to catch a game or even a concert, then you should check out what’s on the calendar and who will be coming to the Talking Stick Arena.

The History of the Talking Stick Arena

The Talking Stick opened on June 6, 1992. Before it became The Talking Stick, locals knew it first as US America West Arena before getting a name change in 2006 to US Airways Center. It was only in 2015 did the building become known as the “Talking Stick”.

You’ll find the Talking Stick near the Chase Field which is home to the Arizona Diamondbacks professional baseball team.

Before it became the home to the Phoenix Suns, it was intended to be a hockey rink for the Coyotes. However, space wouldn’t allow a standard NHL rink. To make the rink fit, the lower level was sheared to create retractable seating. Unfortunately though, for fans sitting on these seats, their view was obstructed and a fourth of the ice was cut from their sight. Eventually, the Coyotes moved to a better-suited stadium leaving the Talking Stick open for other teams to come in.

At the Talking Stick Arena, you can catch the Sun’s playing home games, arena football, ice shows, concerts, and even NHL hockey games. Of course, the Talking Stick also hosts wrestling and boxing matches.

As for music, you can find tons of different bands and performers coming to the Talking Stick. In 2018, Fleetwood Mac came to town followed by Twenty One Pilots. The Jonas Brothers, Eric Clapton, and Iron Maiden have also passed through on tours.

What’s so special about the Talking Stick?

The Talking Stick is more than just a gathering place for sports fans. You’ll find tons of stuff to do in and around the venue. Phoenix is a bustling city that is not-stop fun year-round. So check out what’s going on at The Talking Stick today.
