About Arizona Federal Theatre

Comerica Theatre

The Comerica Theatre is a multi-use entertainment venue in Phoenix that is also known as the Arizona Federal Theatre. It’s located in downtown Phoenix and was designed for performers who couldn’t fill a stadium but could attract a larger audience for a small, intimate venue. The theatre opened in 2002 as the Dodge Theatre and was renamed the Comerica Theater in 2010. The venue has hosted countless concerts, comedians, boxing matches, wrestling events, and other performances while having a capacity of 5,000 people.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at Comerica Theatre

Sections 3-5 are the best areas to sit for a concert or performance at Comerica Theatre. These sections are close to the performer and have a straight-ahead view of the stage. Meanwhile, sections 1, 2, 6, and 7 are close to the stage but at more of an angle. There is also a standing-room-only pit area for some shows that’s even closer to the stage. Finally, sections 202-204 in club seating and sections 303-305 in the balcony also provide visitors with a straight-ahead view of the stage but are also further away from the stage.

Tips for Visiting Comerica Theatre

The doors at Comerica Theatre typically open one hour before the start of the show. However, the venue recommends that you arrive early because the line to pass through security can take a while. It’s also best to check the theatre’s website for questions regarding what items and allowed and what items are prohibited. Also, arriving early is wise because there is no central parking location for the theatre. Anyone not using public transportation is advised to make parking plans and arrangements ahead of time. The Adams Street Garage on West Adams Street provides the closest public parking to Comerica Theatre.

Food to Try at Comerica Theatre

For most events at Comerica Theatre, the concession area is open with common snack bar foods. There is also beer, wine, and cocktails available for those 21 and older. There are also several nearby restaurants that visitors can go for food before or after shows at Comerica Theatre. A little more than a block away is the City Hall Grill, which is good for a simple but affordable meal. A few blocks to the north is Ziggy’s Magic Pizza Shop, a place that lives up to its name. Of course, just half a mile east of Comerica Theatre is the heart of downtown Phoenix where there is an abundance of upscale dining options.
